Q & A: The Alpha Female

SEXY HOT DIVAS: Welcome to LadySports! When did you first get into the sport?
ALPHA FEMALE: I discovered wrestling when I was 11 years old and it captured me from the very start on, and I became a big fan of it. A couple of years later, I had the opportunity to wrestle.

SH: Who trained you?
AF: Two of the best wrestlers in the world... a legend and a machine. Joe Legend from Canada (who worked for the WWE, TNA, and NOAH), and Turkish wrestling machine Murat Bosporus (who worked for NOAH and all over the world).

SH: What was your biggest influence to become a wrestler?
AF: I was always impressed by wrestlers like Bret Hart, Chris Benoit, Fit Finlay, Ric Flair and Arn Anderson. Wrestling was always like a family to me. I feel like home being on the road.

SH: What other sports do you have an interest in?
AF: Well, there is just one more thing I love the most besides wrestling and that is ME. I could do every other sport I wanted to and would be the best at it, but like I said, the only thing I love more than wrestling is the Alpha Female.

SH: How would you describe yourself in terms of attitude, personality and strengths?
AF: I'm a really humble person... I don't like to talk too much about me, but if I have to point something out it would be my generosity and my instinct for success.

SH: Describe a typical day of training for you. What is most important in your workout?
AF: Honestly, I don't have to train as much as most of the little sissy girls. Some people just have it and I'm one of them. But when I train, I train harder than anybody else.

SH: How would you best describe your ring style?
AF: I change my ring style to that which people want to see. Sometimes it's more basic, other times it has more of a “show” aspect. But one thing always stays the same: In the end, I always win.

SH: Did you base your ring style or even your persona on any one particular wrestler?
AF: Come on... have you ever see as fantastically talented a wrestler as me before? I really looked for a role model at first, but then I realized it was just a waste of my time. The Alpha Female is unique.

SH: What specific signature moves are you best known for?
AF: I would say my great Queens Suplex , the deadly Inoki Plex, or the amazing Ranhei, which I put in my moves set only recently.

SH: Have you ever been injured in the ring?
AF: Yes, a couple of times because I had to wrestle against talent-free amateurs.

SH: Since you've begun, have you ever had a "Why am I still doing this" moment?
AF: I think some of my defeated opponents ask themselves this question. I never asked myself this question. It is for little sissy girls, not for the Alpha Female to doubt herself.

SH: Who have been your toughest opponents?
AF: My toughest opponent is my image in the mirror. It is so hard to look away and it captures me for hours. It is really so unfair to be so beautiful.

LS: Who are your allies?
AF: God, my beauty and my intelligence.

SH: What has been your most memorable win?
AF: My eWe title win in Spain in front of 4000 people... a strong, excited crowd! I knew before that match I was going to be successful, but nevertheless it was a great experience. I defended it against Wesna from Croatia and Jenny from Sweden, and it doesn't matter who wants to take it away... no one will EVER take it away from me!

SH: What was your worst loss?
AF: I broke my fingernail once....

SH: Who is the one wrestler you would most like to face in the ring, but haven't yet?
AF: Well, there are a few, but those so-called champions are too frightened to step in the ring with the Alpha Female. They know who they are.

SH: What type of match do you enjoy the most?
AF: The ones where I win and humiliate my opponents. In other words, all of them.

SH: What sort of reactions do you get from people when they learn you are a wrestler?
AF: I have to be honest: I don't really listen to the babbling of other people. The only thing that matters is what I think.

SH: Who and What are your fans like?
AF: What do you mean with who??? Everybody loves me! I just don't think that most of them deserve to see my great in-ring performance.

SH: If you had the power, what one thing would you do to improve the sport?
AF: I would make sure that everybody gets paid better, and make sure that only well-trained wrestlers are able to step in the ring. And what could you guys change to improve the sport? Book me in every show there is in the world! You know, if I'm not on the card, the show cant be that good!

SH: Where have you wrestled, and what titles have you held?
AF: I've wrestled in Africa, Italy, France, Holland ,Switzerland, Finland, Ireland, Denmark, Austria, Spain, and of course Germany. Is there really any title that is worthy to be held by the Alpha Female? Nothing is more precious than me!

SH: What are your thoughts on women participating in the sport?
AF: I think it is great that there is a chance to prove that women are as good as men... only in my case, to prove that I am even better than them.

SH: What was your most unforgettable moment in the ring?
AF: Showing my greatness in front of 4000 people in Africa and also in front of 4000 people in Spain. I'm sure they still dream of me.

SH: Any regrets?
AF: I never regret. I'm always proud of what I do.

SH: What do you suppose you would be doing if you couldn't be in wrestling?
AF: Being the best in something else... or everything else.

SH: If you could have only one more final match, who would you most want to have as your opponent, and why?
AF: I would love to wrestle against Jazzy Bi. She must be amazing. Jazzy Bi versus Alpha Female that will be the Best Match Ever. She would, of course, lose.

SH: What is your personal motto?
AF: CLASS looks only from downside like arrogance

SH: What would make you most happy in life?
AF: Beating up more little sissy girls, having a lot of money, and a house full of mirrors.

SH: How can my readers find out more about your career?

Q & A: Brandi Richardson

SexyHotDivas: Brandi, welcome to LadySports Online! Before we get started, I'd just like to congratulate you on passing the North Carolina bar exam! Does this mean you'll be wrestling as Brandi Richardson, Esq.?
BRANDI RICHARDSON: Hi! Thanks for having me and thanks so much for the congrats! I am so excited to finally finish my degree and wrap up the education era of my life! Not sure if I will muddle the wrestling career with the legal career, but anything is possible, I guess! Guess we gotta wait and see!

SH: When did you first get into the sport?
BR: I was 17 years old and, as is the case with most workers, had been a fan since childhood. A friend in my area was running indy shows in our local armory and rec center. He offered to give me a shot at managing a heel faction there, and I jumped at the chance. I fell in love with it and it just kind of went from there.

SH: Who trained you?
BR: I am very fortunate in that I had a lot of good friends who stepped up to the plate when I decided to start training. Chief among those is Marty "Cham Pain" Garner. Then I had input from some other great peeps like "The Gemini Kid" Jeff Rudd, Kristin Flake, Kamikaze Kid, Kimo, Amber O'Neal, Mike Yamaha, etc. And Ebone Moseley and Jesse Jordan are ALWAYS willing to let me try stuff on them and help me out. I am very, very lucky.

SH: What was your biggest influence to become a wrestler?
BR: I was enthralled by Miss Elizabeth when I was younger. I also loved Wendi Richter and Malibu! And I worked with Mickie James a lot when I first got into wrestling... her dedication is trumped only by her sheer talent, and she is just amazing.

SH: What other sports do you have an interest in?
BR: I was into all kinds of sports growing up. I was a cheerleader for seven years and was captain of my varsity squad. I played basketball and volleyball and was a gymnast for several years. I was pretty good at short distance running and soccer.

SH: How would you describe yourself in terms of attitude, personality and strengths?
BR: I try very hard to always maintain a good, positive attitude, even when the circumstances around me are not necessarily the best. I am a firm believer in the idea that you simply HAVE to find a good in EVERY situation and, more than anything, be thankful for all of the good things in your life. God has richly blessed me...you gotta give back. As far as personality, I guess I am pretty outgoing. I will talk to anyone, anywhere, anytime. And MAYBE I have a slight tendency to be a bit of a smartass! Ha!

SH: Describe a typical day of training for you. What is most important in your workout?
BR: Hard to say! Depends on what my body is lookin' like at any given time. In general, I try to do a good balance of cardio and weight training without listing TOO heavy... just a nice tone. Speaking of which, I totally need to get my butt into the gym. I slacked off this summer studying for the bar!

SH: How would you best describe your ring style?
BR: In desperate need of work! HA! I'm on it!

SH: Did you base your ring style or even your persona on any one particular wrestler?
BR: Not really. I admire certain traits/styles that other people possess, but would stop short of saying that I base my style or persona on anyone else's.

SH: Have you ever been injured in the ring?
BR: I have a preexisting back injury that has nothing to do with wrestling, but which constantly interferes with my training. Add that to the list of things that I need to take care of. Otherwise, knock on wood, I haven't had any other injuries short of a few bumps, bruises, and loose teeth!

SH: Since you've begun, have you ever had a "Why am I still doing this" moment?
BR: Oh, sure. In fact, I took a year and a half off when I started law school. Even after that I only worked occasionally for a long time until I went to one show in particular where a lot of my old buddies were and I remembered how much I missed the business. So I got back in!!

SH: What type of match do you enjoy the most?
BR: I enjoy watching a good, solid technical match that tells a great story. That is what it is all about... that little something that draws you in and keeps you on the edge of your seat. And really...just a basic, well-put together match.

SH: What sort of reactions do you get from people when they learn you are a wrestler?
BR: Oh, that is always funny! Shock...pure shock. Followed by lots of questions!

SH: What is so special about this sport to you?
BR: Without a doubt, the people I get to work with. At least around here, it is like a big family. Most everyone has a genuine respect for one another and they look out for one another. I have made some of the best friends I will ever have because of wrestling. The people are just the best in the world...and they love this sport.

SH: What are your fans like?
BR: Most of them are very, very sweet. Great, passionate people.

SH: If you had the power, what one thing would you do to improve the sport?
BR: I would make the "big time" more competitive so that there could be several companies and more of the truly talented performers could live their dream and work full-time for a "major" company. More outlets to make those dreams come true!

SH: Where have you wrestled, and what titles have you held?
BR: Mostly all throughout North Carolina. A little bit of South Carolina and Virginia, and most recently in good ol' Philly! No titles...except Most Hated! HA! I am absolutely the kind that everyone loves to hate. And I wouldn't have it any other way.

SH: What do you say to those who don't feel there's a place for women in the sport?
BR: If there wasn't a place for them, they wouldn't be there. They are there for a reason. And they most definitely have a place.

SH: What was your most unforgettable moment in the ring?
BR: The last show I worked at King's Barrcade in Downtown Raleigh. I had amazing memories there and it is where I really got my start. And the promotion had one final match there before the city tore the building down to build a parking lot (I know...paved paradise and put up a parking lot...I went there). Lots of good memories with some of the best people in the world...it was very special for me.

SH: If you could have only one more final match, who would you most want to have as your opponent, and why?
BR: Luna Vachon...because of an interview I read that she did recently. Her account of her history in the business was touching...and I have utmost respect for her.

SH: Any regrets?
BR: Never.

SH: What do you suppose you would be doing if you couldn't be in wrestling?
BR: Still be kickin' ass...just in the court room!

SH: What is your personal motto?
BR: I just got it tattooed on my back..."To whom much is given, much is also required." Use your gifts, take nothing for granted...if you are given a talent, make the most of it.

SH: What would make you most happy in life?
BR: I usually don't tell a lot of people this, but I am getting a little older and a little wiser, so I guess now is as good a time as any...what would make me the happiest is to have the "American Dream"...nice job, happy marriage, be a great mom to a rugrat or two, and get heavily involved with an animal rights charity. But hold the phone, because I am still young and have lots of decisions to make before all that!

SH: Anything else you'd like to add?

Former WWE Diva and Current TNA Knockout Christy Hemme and her band “Hemme” will be performing at the Easyrider convention at the Pomona Fairplex January 5th and 6th.
The Purrfect Angels are gonna be there too. I dont know if Christy is still associated with them or not.

Maria debuts on Smackdown!

The word has been leaked that Maria will be showing up on next weeks Smackdown!.
I think it's her first appearance there since the 2008 WWE Draft.
Now, will Maria climb in the ring?

MICKIE JAMES PROFILE

>Mickie James made her debut in wrestling in the summer of 1999. She was best known as Alexis Laree during her days on the indy circuit. Laree started out as a valet, but within due time, she decided to step into the ring and become a wrestler herself. She wrestled for various indy promotions for several years. Laree's indy work would lead her to NWA-TNA in 2003. Laree would manage Raven during her coffee cup stint in NWA-TNA. Laree eventually left TNA to sign a developmental deal with WWE in August of 2003.

Soon after signing with WWE, Alexis Laree transferred over to Ohio Valley Wrestling. After being bypassed for several other women for two long years, it seemed as though that Laree would never be called up to the majors. However, in July of 2005, Laree received word that she would finally be called up to WWE. Laree was CM Punk's valet at a WWE Heat taping on July 25, 2005. Unfortunately, the match never aired because WWE officials were not impressed with their work. It was back to the minors for the both of them. Would Alexis Laree ever catch a break?

After several years of toiling on the indy circuit, Laree finally hit it big when she was called up to WWE in October of 2005. Under the guise of her real name, Mickie James was billed as an obsessed fan of Trish Stratus. For weeks on end, Mickie would idolize and mimic her idol. After Trish broke her heart, it was Mickie's time to shine when she overcame the odds to unseat Trish for the WWE Women's Championship at Wrestlemania 22. She would later lose the belt to Lita on an episode of RAW in August 2006

Vickie Guerrero - The Shining Star

Did you order Judgment Day 2008? We hope you did as it was an awesome show with several competitive bouts. The crowd was a little dull for the majority of the show but they truly showed their love (or hate?) for the Queen of SmackDown!

The delightful Vickie Guerrero received a monstrous pop from the LIVE crowd when she decided to interrupt the Undertaker. Vickie's pop was so huge it prevented her from actually cutting a promo. The fans were wild for the sultry Latina. In all honesty she was booed but the booing pop was deaf-defining and she really was the most over heel character of the night. Here's what Anthony Giacovelli had to say about the show (he attended): -

I’ve never been a part of such an insanely loud atmosphere against a single person. It was amazing to be a part of. It looked like Vickie was ready to cry after the fifth or sixth time she got cut off and they kept getting louder each time. Big time serious heat for Vickie.

Vickie Guerrero is one of the most over characters right now - last night proved it. Not only does she continually develop her heel character but she really knows how to get under the skin of her target audience. Is it time the general manager (and her entourage) moved over to RAW? That brand is seriously lacking some insanely popular heel characters.

WWE Diva Candice Michelle News

WWE Diva Candice Michelle was named one of the E! Network's 20 Hottest Women of the Web. Candice came in at #13 out of all the women online.
Also getting the Candice PR machine running is the BunnyMania match at WrestleMania.

Despite her back injury, WWE Diva Torrie Wilson is still making appearnces for the WWE.

Ashley Massaro - She Apparently Rocks

You just knew it would only be a matter of time before WWE.com unleashed another Ashley Massaro photo shoot. Well the web giants unleashed it a few hours ago and it's already the talk of the net. Unfortunately we didn't get a street hooker-themed photo shoot (or even a slutty one) but rather something far more tame.

Ashley's newest photo shoot basically consists of her wearing an under-sized white top that shows off her enormously pushed up prized assets. She apparently loves dirty rocker boys - or so her shirt would lead you to believe. RHD totally digs Ashley's thong poses, which must be a homage to Lita? Ashley's role model? Sadly most of the photos feature Ashley posing with awful facial expressions. You're either stuck with the constipation look, the bored look, or a lame pouting look. Ashley you need to show off those lovely teeth and give a genuine smile. We REALLY REALLY REALLY miss the somewhat innocent look from 2005!!!

WWE's Newly Signed Diva Louise Glover

I've just stumbled across news that a UK glamour model by the name of Louise Glover recently posted a rather clumsy statement on her Myspace page alleging that she has just signed a contract with the WWE as a Diva. Any reference to this original post has since been removed, and the WWE has yet to make any form of official statement on the matter. If the rumours are true and she has signed, then I can't help but feel that the WWE have yet again just hired someone based on their looks rather than their wrestling ability. They've let decent female wrestlers like Trinity go recently, and they've also lost girls such as Ariel who only seemed to have been hired on T & A grounds. Quite how hiring a model off the backs of these two firings furthers women's wrestling in the WWE is beyond me. Hopefully Miss Glover will prove us all wrong and do a Candice, but I can't say that I'm too confident lightning will strike twice in this way.

WWE Superstar's Girlfriend in Sex Scandal - In TNA Wrestling!

WWE superstar Gregory "Don't Call Me Hurricane" Helms' girlfriend is at the center of pro wrestling's latest scandal, as TNA Knockout Velvet Sky's past has come back to haunt her. Formerly known as Northeast Independent wrestling standout "Talia Madison," the spicy new addition to TNA's ever-growing women's roster has fallen victim to her own celebritydom.

According to leading pro wrestling news site Wrestling News Desk.com, Talia/Velvet's photo appears on the promotional material for a women's professional wrestling pay per view entitled "Wet Wrestling: Naughty Schoolgirl Food Fight." The event is scheduled to start on InDemand pay per view next week. The advertisement also features now-retired Indpendent musclular wrestling femme fatale April Hunter. According to Wrestling News Desk associate editor Dan Bristow, the event was taped sometime in 2006.

Carmen Electra's nude wrestling scandal!

Look, it's not like we sit around all day Googling "Carmen Electra" and "naked wrestling," all right? But when a story drops that somehow manages to combine the two, well, we’re duty-bound to report on it. According to E! Online, Electra is suing something called the Naked Women's Wrestling League for breach of contract and unfair business practices, alleging that she never received the bulk of a promised $400,000 payday and a cut of DVD sales from four pay-per-view hosting appearances. Electra's lawyers say the use of her name and photos to promote such DVD titles as Operation Naked Storm, Bush vs. Hussein, Tag Team Dream and Twin Peaks equate to $3.3-million in compensatory damages, plus attorney’s fees. The NWWL says Carmen’s full of it. (Memo to The Juice*’s editors: We believe this story merits further inquiry. Many, many hours of inquiry.)

Teen diva Emma Watson

Harry Potter star Emma Watson has reportedly become a diva.

The 16-year-old - who plays Hermione Granger in the hit films - has started complaining about her work and arguing with the film bosses.

Emma is said to have confronted the director of 'Harry Potter and the Order of thePhoenix', David Yates, and asked him whether she was contractually obliged to do so many takes.

Yates - who prefers to do around 30 takes to get everything just right - politely told her "yes".

The young actress threatened to quit the Harry Potter series but was allegedly lured back with a £2 million contract to keep playing Hermione for the full seven films.

Emma said: "I've kind of come from nowhere and gone straight in at the top. Where do I go from here? I feel like I need to backtrack and work my way through again.

"I'd be really interested to kind of train properly because I feel I shouldn't be here. I should have done so much more."

But she denies money was the reason she considered quitting.

She said: "It was more about juggling my A-level exams, going to university and doing the movies."

Wrestler Kyla hurts and heals

What if you had the physical strength to subdue someone with such force that you could make an Olympic wrestling team?

Welcome to the life of Kyla Bremner - the Sydney doctor who often heals and hurts on the same day.

Bremner, who was born in Canada but has lived in Australia for over 10 years, is about to become the first woman to represent Australia in wrestling at the Olympics.

She juggles her training program for the Beijing Olympics with her work as a medical intern at Bankstown Hospital.

Currently Australia's top-ranked wrestler, Bremner, 31, completed her medical degree at Sydney University before spending the last two years working in hospitals in rural NSW, only this week returning from a three-week stint at Wagga.

It is a hard balancing act.

Her doctor's role requires long, hard hours and combined with training for sport's ultimate goal, Bremner isn't left with much relaxation time.

"I keep my private life away from work, so none of my patients would know about Beijing," she said. "But I do talk about it a lot with colleagues and they have been fantastic.

"They have been OK swapping shifts with me at late notice when I have had to train or travel ... they are usually very happy to help me out.

"I have had to become very disciplined with balancing work and training, even though it means I don't get a lot of time to see my friends or family."

But this matters little now that she's Beijing-bound.

"I am just so, so excited," Bremner said. "To be the first woman to wrestle for Australia is something I'm proud of . . . now I just can't wait to get over there."

Bremner pre-qualified for selection at the Oceania trials in Canberra last month, but only after some confusion over whether the sport's governing body FILA would grant seven places on the Australian team, was she given her chance.

Bremner had an accidental start to her wrestling career.

"I was going to university in Canada when an international wrestling tour visited and I went to watch a friend who was participating," she said.

"They were looking to start up a women's team and watching it just fascinated me, so I decided to have a go myself.

"It progressed from there."

While Bremner will be travelling with six male wrestlers chosen to compete, she says she has at least one friend on the Beijing team.

"I went to uni with one of the canoeists, Lachlan Milne, but I don't know a lot of the other wrestlers particularly well," she said. "I would be so thrilled to win a medal, but I think a top-10 finish would be amazing."
